The [doHTML] tag What is and is not allowed
The [doHTML] tag is a rather nifty little tool used to imbed HTML in a post here on the forums. Until now, the use of this tag has been limited to certain member levels in certain areas. However I have not unlocked the code for nearly all forums. Please read all of this post, as if these rules are not followed, the user who breaks them will be banned for one week. If these rules are broken on five separate occasions, no matter who is the one breaking them, the code will be disabled once again.
The Basics
The [doHTML] unlocks the ability to format posts using HTML. For those of you who are not web-design savvy, there are many helpful tutorials on how to format posts and the like available on the internet. I've made a list of useful HTML codes for you here, for those who care to begin formatting your posts. Of course, the standard BBcode will still function, so really the [doHTML] tag is only useful for advanced embedding and other formatting unavaliable through BBcode.
The Rules
There will be many "ground rules" which must be followed in order for the [doHTML] tag to remain enabled. Abuse of this tag will not be tolerated under any circumstances. If you are found abusing the [doHTML] tag, you will be banned for one entire week.
Do not ask to be unbanned, do not create mule accounts and spam the forums or the Moderators with them. Doing so will only result in harsher punishment. If the [doHTML] tag has been abused on five separate occasions, it will be disabled once again. More detailed rules targeted toward specific instances listed within each section of this post will appear in red text.
Videos
Yes, the doHTML tag is how Moderators have embedded videos in the past. And now you can use it too! However, please keep in mind that while we don't always enforce this rule very strictly, these forums should maintain a loose "PG-13" rating. If horridly inappropriate videos are found posted on the forums, this breaks not only Shinra's Rules, but breaks Google's ToS. Since the forums are virtually supported by Google's ads, such videos will not be tolerated. If if anyone is found posting such videos they will be banned for one month and the thread will be deleted.
When posting videos, please only post a maximum of five videos per page, not per post. This will allow for series videos to be posted, however if the series is longer than five videos, please only post the first video and link off-site to the others below the first. Following these rules will help keep the loading time down for our users with slower connections.
Videos should be no wider than 800px. If your video is wider than 800px, you will be allowed one warning. The second offense will result in a week long ban.
Do not quote a video. This will result in a one week ban.
Images
While images have been enabled for quite some time here on the forums, all image regulations also apply to the [doHTML] tag, as images can be embedded with this as well. When posting images, please continue to follow the image regulations which have already been established. Keep in mind that previously disabled image formats will remain disabled. If a certain type of image did not display before, it will not have been enabled with this change.
If using the [doHTML] code to post images, please keep the number of images per post to a maximum of 15. If you post more than 15 images per post repeatedly, you will face a week long ban.
If it turns out that only particular users abuse the [doHTML] tag, I will disable their ability to use it. Once five members have had this ability removed, then the use of the [doHTML] tag will be revoked from everyone, excluding Admins and Moderators.
To play around with the new tag, please use the [doHTML] test forum. |
